Decked Garden Design
This garden design is traditional in layout but isn't boring due to lush planting. The garden design brief was to make the most of the garden and create a large lawn to house the childrens many toys. The garden had different levels that had to be accomodated and some established borders.
The garden design is based around a large framed deck that is split into two areas. One is proportioned for the dining area and the other to act as a terrace outside the patio doors. Steps lead into the garden and facilitate movement around the space. The decking is set at 45 degrees to create an illusion of space. A hedge of Amalanchier, underplanted with hebes, will eventually create privacy around the decking and lead the eye into the garden as well as providing stunning colour in the Spring and Autumn. A raised oak bed has been created in one corner and a raised oak seating area under a beautiful Cherry tree in the other to catch the late day sun. Hebe hedges surround the seating area linking it to the decking. A mixed planting scheme provides all year interest. A simple garden design but very colourful and family friendly.
