Large Planting Scheme

My clients originally wanted a cascade but after consultation we decided on a large planting scheme that made the most of the existing stream. The hawthorn hedge was removed to open up the space and the bed was created with strong organic lines that sweep your eye down to the pond. The existing straight stream was reshaped with new curves and the edges strengthened with stone. The planting scheme is a mixture of grasses interplanted with blue, purple and red herbaceous plants softened by splashes of white and yellow creating a Monet feel to the whole area. Damp loving plants hug the banks and woodland plants and ferns drift into the trees. In Autumn the seed heads of the grasses add interest that lasts right into Winter. In Spring the bed is a wash with Dafodills and the existing pots are a blaze with vibrant tulips.
