Rectangular Garden Design
The garden design is based on the interaction between rectangles. It was vital that the design allowed the garden to flow around the outhouse cohesively linking all the functional areas together. As the sun lights up the back wall it was the ideal place to put a bespoke oak seat framed by comtemporary trellis that supports a beautiful wisteria. The BBQ is located at the end of two lines of stone that entice the terraced patio into the rest of the garden. The sea of slate provides a colourful visual link between slate monolith water feature and the BBQ area.
The patio is softened by sunken beds containing viburnum half standards and evergreen clematis both underplanted with black grasses. The lawn leads your eye down to the fields beyond the garden framed by a new Betulis utilis Jaquemontii and a Photina Red Robin. The planting is a mixture of shrubs and herbaceous plants together with herbs near the BBQ. The plants have been selected to be dog proof - a fundamental requirement of the garden as a whole.
